iPhone 6S & 6S Plus Dating Compatibility
It’s been long overdue but the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus are now finally available. On September 25th 2015 Apple has launched three new mobile models: the iPhone 6S, the iPhone 6S Plus and the iPad Pro. This raised the question: “how will these mobile devices work with the current dating apps and what will be the main changes?”.
The Main Changes in iPhone 6S and 6S Plus
After reviewing the new Apple phones we can conclude that the main changes are:
- The faster CPU A9 Processor
- 3D Touch
These changes are basically the cornerstones which could affect all iTunes dating apps. Here’s how:
The A9 Processor Main Benefits:
With the new A9 processor the door is open for app developers to use more hardware capabilities. This means that new dating features in the apps which rely solely on CPU power can now be implemented.
The faster A9 CPU allows much more room for complex animations, higher image resolution, and faster usage of multiple application features. This means that the dating site developers can now allow users to open up multiple functions of their app simultaneously if the user so chooses and make communicating on the app much faster and comprehensive.
It also allows users to upload higher resolution profile images and get to see other singles profiles with the same level of high resolution as well.
This also means that if you have more than one dating app installed on your iPhone, such as the Match.com iPhone app, or the eHarmony iPhone app for instance, you can basically open all of them at the same time and not experience any lag in usage (depending on your ISP bandwidth).
3D Touch Benefits:
The 3D Touch introduced in iPhone 6S and 6S Plus offers a new way of browsing through your mobile phone. The developers at Apple have managed to use the Taptic Engine from the Apple Watch on iPhone 6S in a manner to allow for different pressure signals to be picked up by the device. This feature allows iPhone users to have a right click function on their phone which opens up a new menu for quick navigation on apps.
What 3D Touch does is allow users of iPhone to save taps. It is a great way to interact with your apps in the most commonly used features they have.
The question here is how well will current online dating apps use this feature?
Here are a few obvious ways which come to mind. A long tap on mail in eHarmony would open up the sent and received inboxes. Or, if you just wanted to catch up on the latest likes, updates of matched profiles, and local search from the Okcupid app you would be able to do that just by tapping long on the app icon itself.
The possibilities and improvements which the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus offer for iPhone dating apps are BIG! It remains to be seen how well the developers from the big dating brands such as Match.com and POF will use this opportunity.
